John Woo’s The Killer

After moaning about Hollywood and talented Asian directors I thought I’d take a trip down memory lane and revisit perhaps the classic Hong Kong action film by John Woo, The Killer. It’s every bit as good as I remember it, from the slow motion, infinite bullet shoot-outs to the cheesy yet somehow endearing dialogue – and let’s not forget policeman Danny Wong staring with eyes full of homoerotic subtext at the wall covered in sketches of Chow Yun-Fat’s professional killer.
